Isn't it wonderful that there's a cute, furry animal who is willing to check on the weather for us? Good old Punxsutawney Phil risks frostbite every February 2 just to confirm that we still have another month or two of winter left.
I've become an even greater fan of Phil since I saw the 1993 movie Groundhog Day in which Bill Murray gets to relive that one day countless times until he finally gets it right. Imagine having that opportunity in your own life?
One of my favorite scenes from that movie is when Murray orders breakfast after realizing that there are no long-term consequences to indulging in all of the food he desires. If you haven't seen the movie, not only does he order piles of breakfast food but he stuffs his face with pies and pastries as well.
In honor of Groundhog Day, and as tribute to that funny breakfast scene, I propose celebrating this day with a pancake breakfast. There's nothing cozier on a cold winter morning than cuddling up inside your home with a piping-hot pile of pancakes and a steaming cup of coffee, while knowing that someone (or something) else is worrying about the weather.
