It never ceases to amaze me how handy baskets can be when you're entertaining. My house is filled with them in all shapes and sizes, yet they don't collect dust because I use them so often. I believe a good basket should never be discarded because it will always find a purpose. For example:

  • Line a basket with foil or plastic wrap and create a beautiful, edible, vegetable centerpiece.
  • Place a cloth napkin in a basket and use it to serve rolls and other bread.
  • Use baskets on your buffet table to hold flatware and napkins.
  • Serve nuts or candies in small baskets.
  • Haul out the large baskets for last minute tidying before your guests arrive. Toss the baskets into a room that is kept off limits from your guests.
  • Place small potted plants in appropriate size baskets to use as table decorations or favors for your guests.
  • Fill a basket in your guest bathroom with convenient sundries such as toothpaste, powder, bath gel, etc. for your guests.
  • Place fresh bath towels in a large basket in your guest bedroom.
  • Fill a basket with goodies to use as a hostess gift.
